3. Schedule your evaluations

Every year, ATI schedules dedicated days for evaluation connected to our Annual Conference.  You may schedule up to three evaluations via the Certification Coordinating Committee if enough ATI Sponsors have volunteered to be available on those days. You can find more information on the Become an ATI Teacher page.

If you cannot attend the ATI Conference, contact the ATI Sponsors of your choice to arrange an evaluation. ATI Sponsors are located in many countries (see our list of ATI Sponsors).  Many travel to other countries to attend conferences or give workshops, so it may be possible to meet with them then. Some are also offering online evaluation sessions.

Fees for evaluation sessions vary according to country. Please click here for a list of cost per session in each country.

4. Complete the ATI Certification Process

Before being evaluated, submit to each of your three ATI Sponsors a copy of your training certificate or a letter from an Alexander Technique teacher confirming successful completion of a training process.  (If you wish, you may send them your completed Demonstrations of Knowledge This step is optional. See #7 below.) The Demonstration of Teaching Skills portion of the certification process takes approximately two hours with each ATI Sponsor and includes teaching a beginning student.

All ATI Sponsors adhere to the ATI Criteria for Evaluating the Competencies of Teachers (Candidate Evaluation Form).  Your evaluations are a learning opportunity. ATI Sponsors have diverse educational backgrounds and bring their experience to the process.

5. Submit your completed application

After you have successfully completed the evaluation process with three ATI Sponsors, submit your application directly online, where you can upload your

If you are unable to upload the documents, you can find a printable application here. Complete the application by hand, and mail it to the ATI office.

6. What’s next?

When your application is approved by the Certification Coordinating Committee, you will receive an invoice for your teaching member dues.  Your application takes approximately 2-3 weeks for review. A welcome email with membership information will accompany a printed certificate for your records.

7. Optional: Professional Development Committee Pilot Project

This step is optional, but all candidates are encouraged to participate.  This helps ATI make improvements to the certification process.  Candidates are asked to submit a brief video or piece of writing demonstrating their knowledge in three content areas:  Alexander's writings, anatomy, and ethics.
