Evolving the Alexander Technique: Attunement, Capacity, and Teaching in a New Era
Thursday, February 12, 202612:00 PM EDT to Saturday, February 14, 2026
Category: Professional Level Workshops
February 12–14, 2026 | Seattle, Washington with Bill Conable and Shawn L. Copeland
Many Alexander teachers and practitioners have noticed that the context in which we teach and learn has shifted significantly since the pandemic. While the foundational principles of the Alexander Technique remain vital, the lived experience of students, performers, and teachers has changed.
This three-day, in-person workshop offers a space to explore both the enduring foundations of the Technique and the ways the work is evolving in response to contemporary learning environments. Through hands-on work, experiential exploration, and discussion, participants will examine attunement, nervous system capacity, trauma-informed approaches, relational teaching practices, and current developments in Body Mapping as they relate to Alexander work today.
Each day has a distinct focus:
• Day 1 – Continuing Education
• Day 2 – Teacher-Training Support
• Day 3 – Deepening for Practitioners, including performers and others who integrate the Technique into their craft
Participants may attend one, two, or all three days.
The workshop will take place in Seattle’s University District, within walking distance of the U-District Light Rail station, offering direct access to SEA-TAC Airport, Downtown Seattle, and Capitol Hill.
Single-day and multi-day registration options are available. A limited number of sliding-scale spots are offered for students and those experiencing financial hardship.
